Prop 8 rally at the Capital

Today we went to a prop 8 rally at the Capital building. I never thought I would ever attend a political rally, but I feel so strongly about this important issue that I wanted to go show my support. I won't stand on my soap box for long but if you read my blog and care to know why I feel the way I do, continue reading. If not I hope that you can understand my point of view and respect my beliefs.
I have to say that as a mother, I will not stand for anything that takes away a parents right to choose what to teach their children. I feel very adamant that Prop 8 must pass if we have any hope of keeping our children away from non-educational topics being taught in the classroom. Prop 8 has nothing to do with taking away the rights of anyone, however if Prop 8 does not pass the rights of parents will definitely be affected. I have many friends and family members who have chosen alternative lifestyles but their choices in no way entitle them to take upon the sacred title of marriage. Regardless of political beliefs, the moral questions raised by discussions of sexuality in all forms are best answered in the HOME. We have great teachers in California, but at the end of the day a child is guided best by the moral compass held in the hands of their MOTHER and FATHER.
There. . .I have said it, and now you know how I feel. If you live in CA please make sure to vote YES on 8, and if you don't live here pray for us!

Tagged by Emmalee

I was tagged by my sis-in-law Emmalee to offer up 7 random facts about myself so here goes. . .

1. I love to read and read books really fast.

3. I hated roller coasters when I was a kid and then decided to give one a try and now I LOVE them!

5. The weekend Brandon was going to propose to me my ring wasn't finished, so his dad bought his mom a ring just so Brandon could use it for the proposal. As a side note, his mom gave me that ring for Mother's day last year.

6. For my senior project I mentored under a local potter and spent more than a hundred hours learning to throw pottery and making my mom an 8 piece dinnerware set.

7. I have a sweet tooth and some of my most favorite treats are; Dryer's coconut popsicles, peanut m&m's, dark chocolate, and york peppermint patties.

Now I tag. . .anyone who wants to share a little more about themselves!

Beaner on the Screamer

My daughter is seriously the bravest 7 year old girl I know. We had FHE at Scandia on Monday and lucky for us a friend of ours owns and runs the park. They have a ride called the Screamer which is described on the website as-
"SCANDIA SCREAMER-The Scandia Screamer is a high impact thrill ride designed for anyone over 48" and under 275lbs who has enough courage to engage in the 3¼ "G" force, 65 mph ride. This is a one of a kind thrill that will have you begging for more. If adrenaline is what you're looking for, we will see you soon.
The way it picks you up and drops you makes it look like you are over the freeway!

Blythe is now the youngest person to EVER ride this ride!! She was a little nervous when we got on, but did so great and was even smiling! Brandon and I are so proud of her and the fact that she has such strength and determination at such a young age. She feels such a sense of accomplishment and still won't take off her admission bracelet because she wants everyone to know she did it!
*Steve-Thank you so much! We owe you one!

Boys trip to UT

The boys took a road trip to Utah for the BYU/UCLA game. They had a great time and did all the usual boy things: challenged each other to climb up mountains on the side of the road, played golf, watched football, hit golf balls off the Y, and . . .ate grasshoppers?

80's Skate Party

I think the pictures say it all! Our second 80's party was a great success. I just recently got bangs and so the claw bangs were a must! Brandon channeled his inner Malibu roller skater with some killer biker/denim shorts. Everyone's outfits were awesome and our neighbors did a great job with the music and door prizes (Pretty in pink and Duran Duran buttons were my personal favorite!)
